Pittston, PA – For the first time in over a decade, Republicans in Pennsylvania’s 8th Congressional District are united behind a single candidate, with the sole focus being on defeating Matt Cartwright in November.
Turning in over 3,200 signatures across 5 counties and 130 municipalities, businessman Rob Bresnahan secured his spot on the ballot to take on Matt Cartwright in what is viewed as one of the best Republican pick up opportunities in the nation.

Background on Rob Bresnahan:
Rob is a Luzerne County native, who has spent his professional life building his family business, giving back to the community, and revitalizing Northeastern Pennsylvania. At the age of 19, Rob joined the ranks of his grandfather’s electrical business as CFO to make sure the company survived the financial crisis of 2008. A few years later, Rob took over as CEO and grew the electrical contracting business from less than 50 employees to more than 150, providing family-sustaining, union careers across the region. Aside from the family business, Rob has reinvested in Northeastern Pennsylvania by revitalizing buildings in historic downtown communities, supporting local entrepreneurs, and serving his community through more than a dozen local charities and nonprofits.

Pennsylvania’s 8th District is comprised of Lackawanna, Luzerne (partial), Monroe (partial), Pike, and Wayne Counties, forming the Northeast corner of Pennsylvania. The district is rated as an R+3 with President Trump winning it in both 2016 and 2020. Both parties have identified this district as one of the most important in the nation for control of the House of Representatives in 2024.
