Pittston, PA – Scranton saw yet another act of violent crime this week, this time involving a member of law enforcement. According to WBRE, a law enforcement official was stabbed with a knife while carrying out an eviction at the Adams High Rise in Scranton.
The stabbing comes just days after Mayor Paige Cognetti was photographed hobnobbing in Manhattan at a swanky cocktail reception at the Rainbow Room, billed as “the epitome of New York glamour and elegance.” Her Friday-night trip to New York now sits squarely between multiple violent attacks back home.

Earlier that week, Scranton was rocked by a brutal machete attack that left two women and a service dog hacked to death, with another victim fighting for their life. A teenager was also killed, marking the city’s third homicide in a week.
As a reminder, just last year Mayor Cognetti brushed off rising murders, gang violence, and assaults on law enforcement by suggesting things could always be worse and that such violence has always existed in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
We’re sure that’ll be comforting to the mounting list of victims of brutal violence on Mayor Cognetti’s watch.
