Pittston, PA — Word on the street is that Goldman Sachs banker Paige Cognetti was chewed out today by labor leaders for gutting protections for local blue collar workers under Scranton’s Responsible Contractor Ordinance.
Last June, Cognetti amended the ordinance to carve out site work, road work, and bridge work from prevailing wage and apprenticeship protections. Those are major categories of core construction work in Scranton.

Maybe if Mayor Cognetti spend more time in Scranton rather than always looking for her next promotion, she’d actually learn about what is important to the people and groups in NEPA.
Meanwhile, since taking office, Congressman Rob Bresnahan has secured endorsements from:
- IBEW Local 163 (Endorsement letter HERE)
- Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen (Endorsement letter HERE)
- Pennsylvania Laborers’ District Council (Endorsement letter HERE.)
He was also awarded the “Outstanding New Member of Congress” honor by the American Federation of Government Employees.
The contrast is clear. Paige Cognetti weakened protections for the building trades. Rob Bresnahan has earned their endorsement.
