Facing shaky poll numbers and an electorate that is sick of inflation and an open Southern border, yesterday, Congressman Matt Cartwright made a 180-degree turn on his border policy. Cartwright has voted no less than six times against securing our southern border during the 118th Congress, and yet now he is calling on President Biden to take executive action on the border crisis. His opposition to border security measures is well-documented, and the voters of Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District will be reminded of that.
Rob Bresnahan added the following comment in response to this letter:
“My questions for Matt Cartwright on this matter are: What made you change your mind on our Southern Border? How many deaths from fentanyl, rapes of innocent women by illegal immigrants, and stress that has been put on our hospitals and schools made you change your mind? We all know the answer is the high probability that you will lose this election, which made you flip-flop on this issue. We need leaders in Congress, not jellyfish.”
Campaign Manager Derek Rockey added the following comment in response to this letter:
“Desperate candidates are often forced to take desperate action. Cartwright knows he has lost his constituency, and his old two-step dance of portraying himself as a moderate in NEPA and then acting like a radical progressive in D.C. has finally caught up with him. This letter is a pathetic attempt to pander to voters he lost months ago.”
