U.S. Representative Rick Crawford Joins Rob Bresnahan for “Broken Bridges, Broken Promises” Tour Highlighting Infrastructure Failures in Pennsylvania’s 8th District

Luzerne County, PA – U.S. Representative Rick Crawford (AR-01) joined Republican congressional candidate Rob Bresnahan on Thursday for a “Broken Bridges, Broken Promises” tour across Pennsylvania’s 8th District. The tour highlighted long-standing infrastructure delays and stalled projects that, according to Bresnahan and Crawford, continue to hinder Northeastern Pennsylvania’s safety, commerce, and growth.

Tour attendees included West Pittston Mayor Angelo Alfano, Wyoming Mayor Joe Dominick, and Exeter Borough Council member Dave Balent, who joined Congressman Crawford and Rob Bresnahan to examine key sites where six-term Democratic Congressman Matt Cartwright has claimed infrastructure funding successes—yet where tangible results, they argue, remain unrealized.

“Congressman Cartwright can’t have it both ways,” said Rob Bresnahan. “He claims to be a power player who brings home the bacon, yet we’ve been waiting over a decade to see real results, like fixing the many structurally deficient bridges across Northeastern Pennsylvania. Our communities deserve more than press conferences and promises that take years to materialize. This is about accountability. If Cartwright is truly delivering for the district, why are we still stuck waiting for essential infrastructure to be fixed?”

The tour featured three stops:

  • Firefighters Memorial Bridge in West Pittston, which has been closed since 2021 and is not expected to reopen until 2030, cutting off a vital commercial and community link
  • Nanticoke/West Nanticoke Bridge, currently under a 5-ton restriction due to structural deficiencies, adding delays for emergency response teams
  • Nacero Gas Plant Site in Luzerne County, where a $6 billion natural gas-to-gasoline project remains delayed until at least 2030, leaving promises of high-paying jobs unfulfilled.

At each location, Bresnahan and Crawford underscored the pressing need for accountability and immediate action to modernize the district’s infrastructure, prioritizing community safety, economic development, and dependable public services.
